Hi there
I just got a 3D Connexion Space Navigator
it's great.
one thing:
how can I assign a button to get both Top View and Zoom Extent ?
one click on the right button for example, and I get the model Top View with Zoom Extent?
what
do you think?
by the way thank you for your shows.
From France!
i think the only way that could work is if you were to create a ruby script that would enable you to combine top view and zoom extents with a single command. then assign a keyboard shortcut to the ruby script, and then assign a button to that key.
merci for watching our shows,
-mike
Hi Mike
thank you for your quick response.
waooo writing a ruby script is way over my computing skills!!!
there is a command in the Space navigator pannel where you ca personalise buttons.
that allows one to edit a macro, again I don't know how to do that, but I guess that would be "easier"?
what do you think?
I got it to work. Start by going into your 3DConnexion control panel. Select the "button Configuration" tab, then click the "custom functions" button. Click "new" to create a top view/zoom extents macro. Name it something memorable for this function.
Leave this window open and go into SU. Open the system preferences window (in Windows it is Window>Preferences, Mike will have to help me out with the Mac menus). Click on the the "Shortcuts" option and find both Camera/Standard Views/Top and Camera/Zoom Extents and take note of the assigned key combinations. You may have to assign new ones if none exists, but Mike and Alex did an episode one that, so take a look if you don't remember how.
Back in the 3DConnexion window click in the white space of the "User Macro" field. Without doing anything else this the keyboard shortcut for camera top. Then click "insert pause." Then do the other keyboard shortcut for zoom extents. Click save/done to get back to the control panel. You'll find your new macro (under the name you gave it) under the right and left mouse button drop down menus.
Hope that helps. You may have to click the button twice in SU but it should work for pretty much any task, as long as you can map the necessary shortcuts in the SU preferences window. Good luck!
