I have a feeling I'm going to be flying solo here in Cincinnati :)

I was thinking of soliciting someone (much more knowledgeable than myself) to do a podcast about sketchup.  Before doing so I did a search to make sure one didn't already exist...low and behold that's how I found you guys.  I will probably throw down the $80 for the DVD even though I think (emphasize "think") that I have the basics down.

Hope to see some more posts,

Jake

Well Jake,

Our newest podcast is up on the site. Hope you like. If you decide to throw down for the DVD, please let us know your thoughts. I've been teaching SketchUp for a few years now and most self taught SKPers (even the ones who have been using the program for over a year!) are amazed at all the hidden little time savers that we've got in there.

In fact, tell you what, if you don't learn anything, I'll give you your money back.

As for flying solo in Cincinatti, can't really help you there, but feel free to use this forum to rally some folks in your area to get together and chat about SKP. User group meetings are a great way to share info and discover new techniques. I'll be sure to let you know if I'm ever up that way.

Sounds good!  The DVD will make a nice Christmas gift.  I'd like to get good enough with Sketchup to maybe do some consulting work on the side of my full time job.  The only feedback I have right now is...well, let's just say that's a very white background in the podcast, ha ha ha.  It's great though, really really appreciate the podcast.

Cincinnati here!  (ok, really Fairfield, but close enough)  I'm using SU because we just bought our first house and I'm building models of the rooms so we can decide on furniture, furniture placement, colors, etc.  I'm also going to grab the DVD and can't wait to watch all of the podcasts.

rubyist,

congrats on the new house. you'll have a blast using sketchup for your planning. we've had a few requests here on the forums for a podcast with some tips for interiors modeling and are hoping to get that out soon.

hope you like the DVD. you'll have to let us know what you think.

Thanks, Mike

I got the DVD and watched it a couple times.  I'd already picked up most of the material from other docs and playing around with SU for a couple weeks, but I did learn a few things.  It is Level One, afterall, so I'm still very pleased with the quality and the DVD format.  I'm looking forward to Level Two and continue to watch the podcasts.  Keep up the great work!

I'll try and post some pics soon.  I'm in the middle of designing a desk for the new office, ala simplebuilding.com.

Rubyist, that's cool to have someone near by.  Please post pictures and let us (me) know how it goes.  I did get the DVD, but I haven't found time to check it out yet.  Two toddlers at holiday time will do that to ya.

Tom - have your kids watch the DVD with you. They'll probably pick up Sketchup pretty quick too!

Hey Jake.  I'm close to you (Columbus).  Not quite at the skill level of where I'll be making my own Columbus group, though.  I'm still practicing and learning to use SketchUp.  Thanks to the unbelievable video podcasts here, I'm so much further ahead than I would otherwise be.  Maybe once I get through all the podcasts (I'm only on episode 18) I'll see what I can do.  I'd love to model some buildings in Columbus for Google Earth.  Right now, I'm working on my apartment complex.  I just have to snap a few more photos and work on two more buildings and I'll be all set.  Anyway, good luck on modeling in Cinci!  :)
