protractor guidelines not working

I was using the protractor tool to set roof pitch and it worked great.  Then I was working on a new project and the guidelines won't set.  They appear as a dotted gray line while I rotate the protactor, but when I click or type a value and hit enter, they just disappear.

I tried uninstalling SketchUp and downloading it again, but the same problem.  It is almost like they are going on a hidden layer, but I checked that.

 What's wrong?

i've noticed that the protractor tool can be a but buggy at times when trying to use it to create guides. in some cases it helps to press down the CTRL Key (PC) or Option Key (MAC) before you clik to set the guide.

usually when i'm having trouble getting the protractor to work, i'll just quit sketchup and relaunch it. that usually does the trick.

Thanks Mike - CTRL seems to have done the trick.
