Hi, when I import a CAD drawing into sketchup, the drawing just seems to like 'disappear' and took me a while to find it as its like really tiny in sketchup. I've checked the dimensions in CAD and Sketchup and its all in mm. So, does anyone know whats the reason and any suggestions to fix tht?

Cheers!!

chech out Episode #20 of 'The Sketchup Show'

http://www.go-2-school.com/podcasts/020

about 4 minutes in, you'll see the process for importing CAD files. If the default units for your CAD file were MM, then you'll want to make sure to select MM from the Scale Drop down menu in the Options dialog box for CAD import.

hopefully that helps. If not, keep in mind that you can use the Tape Measure tool to scale your drawing. that process is as follows:

take the tape measure tool

measure a known dimension in the model. (i.e. perhaps you know that a particular wall in the model should measure 10meters.) to measure the length of a wall, be sure to click from endpoint to endpoint. clicking on edges will likely create guide lines and that's not going to help.

as soon as you've clicked from endpoint to endpoint with the tape measure tool to get a measurement, then type in the diemnsion (i.e. 10m) and then hit enter.

SketchUp will ask if you want to re-size the model. click yes.
