SketchUp, Layout, and Power Point

Hi,

I'm brand new to SU, and Layout's my next hill to climb. But I do have a question.

I'm trying to incorporate my SU drawings into a Power Point slideshow. I've just starting using Layout to create a printable presentation for my clients, but they do require that I also create a PP presentation.

Any tips or help for moving back and forth between the three programs would be great.

I did find this link when I googled the problem, but don't know if the $129 program is really necessary for my situation.

Thanks for any advice offered...

Eric

I used to use Power Point for my presentations. Now I strictly use Layout.

I can't think of a reason why you would even want to use Powerpoint. Other than familiarity.

Once you start getting the hang of layout, you won't go back to PP.

I looked at the software you linked. seems like a waste of $129.

If you are making a document, use Layout. If you are going to be actively showing people different aspects of the model, open it up in sketchup.

i have to agree with pt. nonetheless, if you're being 'forced' to use powerpoint, you might find it useful to use the export feature in Layout - which allows you to save your layour doc as a series of jpegs, which could then be compiled into a ppt preso.
seems like kind of tragic/backwards waste of time if you ask me though, especially given that layout includes an option in the View menu for 'Start Presentation' which allows you to view your layout doc in full-screen mode where you can use the arrow keys to cycle through the pages. the best part is that if you double click on the SU model viewport while in presentation mode, you can still orbit the SU model in 3D! Way cooler than ppt!!!
