Cylinder Shading/Wireframe Problem?

Hi again, I seem to have developed a problem with my current model. Initially when I push pulled curved edges the curved face was rendered with a smooth finish. Now however its rendered as a polygon. Even arcs behave this way and display edges where each 'face' of the curved surface joins the next. This causes unwanted graphical anomalies when zoomed out such as banding on the curved face. I have removed the TubeAlongPath.rb plug-in to see if this was the culprit but my model still persists with this behaviour.However if i start a new model then the any curved surface is rendered smoothly as normal. Is there a setting I've overlooked which can reverse this behaviour ? Any advice in this matter is appreciated and welcomed.

    It's possible that you may have inadvertently turned on the Hidden Geometry display option (View Hidden Geometry).

    start with that, and if not, there are some other, more complex possibilities... ; )
